110 Builders in 60 Days: Thank You, Los Angeles

Two months after opening Vereyo to every contractor, 110 Los Angeles builders are bidding with it. Here’s how we got here, who got us here, and what we’re building next.

Sixty days ago we opened Vereyo to every contractor. Today, 110 Los Angeles builders are using it to turn plan sets into priced estimates. We’re thrilled, and we know exactly who to thank.

It started with the rebuild

Vereyo began after the January 2025 fires. Whole neighborhoods in Altadena and the Palisades needed their homes back, and every one of those rebuilds started with a stack of plans someone had to take off by hand. Families were waiting on the math.

That’s still why we do this. Every builder who signs up is one more crew that can price a job the day the plans arrive, and one more family that gets an answer sooner.

Built with Google

We couldn’t have moved this fast alone. As members of the Google for Startups Cloud Program, we build Vereyo’s plan reading on Google’s Gemini models, among the best in the world at understanding what’s on a page and where it sits. The Google team has supported us with infrastructure, guidance and a lot of patience for two builders asking a lot of questions.

Google’s AI reads the drawings. Vereyo, built on 25 years of Matt’s contracting experience, knows what a builder needs: every trade, every room, every line a sub is going to ask about. Together they measure the plans instead of guessing from a house that looks similar.

“AI gives us great vision. Matt’s 25 years tells it what to look for.”
Nicholas Jarecki, co-founder, Vereyo

Our first customer

Jorge Lozano was with us before Vereyo had a public launch, a website or a single customer logo. Lozano Construction is a family business based in Inglewood, run by a founder with more than 20 years in the trade, his three sons and a nephew. They build new homes and ADUs and remodel across the Westside and South Bay, from Culver City and Venice to Manhattan Beach and Beverly Hills.

New builds and remodels are different animals. A new build means pricing everything from the foundation up. A remodel means knowing what’s coming out, what’s staying, and what the walls are hiding. Both start with a plan set, and both used to cost Jorge hours at the desk for every bid.

Now his team uploads the PDF and gets a trade-by-trade estimate back in about eight minutes. Since June they’ve run ADUs, additions, a garage-to-JADU conversion and whole-house remodels through Vereyo, and every job made the product better for everyone. When Jorge told us something was off, we fixed it, and the next builder got that fix too.

“A new build is everything from the foundation up. A remodel is everything you can’t see yet. Either way I used to lose a night at the desk before I could give a homeowner a number. Now the plans go in, the estimate comes back, and I can bid two jobs in the time one used to take. For a family business, that’s the difference.”

Now: GCs and subs, on the same page

The first 60 days were about getting the estimate right. The next chapter is about everyone who works from it.

  • Bid Center. Once your estimate is ready, send bid packages straight to subs by trade. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC, tile and stucco contractors can sign up free and get plans that are already measured and organized.
  • Bid Check. Upload any sub’s bid and Vereyo compares it with your takeoff. See what it covers, what it left out, whether the price is in line, high or low, and what the sub is really charging per square foot. Level bids side by side and award the job, all in one place.

GCs and subs working from the same measured plans means fewer surprises, fewer change orders, and fewer phone calls asking “did you include the trim?”

Getting smarter every plan

We keep sharpening how Vereyo reads plans, with Google’s newest models and our own system working together. Pricing stays local: rates come from real sub bids on real Los Angeles jobs, not national averages. And every number is still drawn right on the plan, so you can check our work and change anything you disagree with.

“Every plan set a builder uploads makes Vereyo better for the next one. That’s the whole idea.”
Matt Russell, co-founder, Vereyo

Thank you

To the 110 builders who trusted us with their plans, to Jorge and the Lozano family who were first through the door, and to the Google team who helped us build this: thank you. Los Angeles is rebuilding, and we’re proud to be part of it.

Try Vereyo on your own plans. Your first estimate is free, no credit card required. Then tell us what we should build next.
