Vereyo started on a jobsite in Los Angeles, not in a boardroom.
Matt Russell has been building homes in Southern California for 25 years as the head of Level 42 Construction. After the January 2025 fires, the rebuild work poured in — whole neighborhoods in Altadena and the Palisades full of families who needed their homes back. Every one of those jobs started the same way: a stack of plans that someone had to take off by hand. Nights and weekends counting outlets, measuring walls, pricing drywall one sheet at a time. Slow math, with real stakes.
Nicholas Jarecki has been writing software since he was a kid, and served as technical advisor on the MGM/UA film Hackers. He went on to found TopSend.com, an award-winning email platform, and was an early investor in Robinhood, Calm and other internet startups. He has spent his career turning slow, manual work into software.
When he and Matt sat down with a set of plans, the question was simple: what if the plans could read themselves?
So they built it together. Matt knew what a real estimate needs — every trade, every room, every line a sub is going to ask about. Nick built the AI to read the drawings — floor plans, electrical sheets, schedules, elevations — and measure everything on them.
From the beginning, we believed you should be able to check the AI's work. So Vereyo does the math, and you verify the results. Every measurement is drawn right on the plan, so you see it with your own eyes and can dial in anything that's off. That's what sets us apart: we don't infer. We measure.
We use it ourselves
Vereyo estimates run on Level 42's own jobs. If it isn't good enough to bid a real rebuild, it doesn't ship — and when something's off on one of our projects, we fix it for everyone.
